AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring
The AWHONN Advanced Fetal Heart Monitoring course expands on knowledge and physiological principles presented in the AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Course. This course uses a case study approach to support analysis of complicated patient clinical information and tracings. The course emphasizes the physiology of fetal-maternal oxygenation, instrumentation, interpretation of tracings and the selection of interventions as well as communication and documentation techniques.

AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring
This course addresses principles of fetal heart monitoring and may be used as a knowledge assessment tool to validate comprehension of experienced perinatal clinicians. This course includes lecture, hands-on skill station exercises about fetal heart rate auscultation, performing Leopold’s Maneuvers, placement of an intrauterine pressure catheter and fetal spiral electrode, interpretation of tracings, identification of physiologically based clinical interventions, communication and documentation.

Become an AWHONN FHM Instructor
Instructors have the opportunity to participate in the FHM program at various levels. Instructors in all levels must:

Maintain AWHONN membership at all times

Follow FHM Program administrative guidelines

Teach a minimum of 25% of each course (Intermediate – includes lecture & skills stations)

Maintains feedback scores of at least 4 in all areas of content (Instructor Trainers 4.5 in all areas)
